Decommissioning - Wellsite & Facility
Resolve has been performing wellsite & facility decommissioning services for producers in Northeast BC and Northwest Alberta since 2014 and with each project our mantra has always been: it all starts with the right team. Having the right team for the job ensures the work is completed as safe and efficiently as possible while giving the project the best chances to be completed on time and on budget.
Resolve’s extensive experience in this field allows us to offer a true one-stop shop solution to our clients. No scope of work is too big or too small for our team to tackle! So whether it is our qualified hazardous material survey team performing a pre demo survey, our 300 series excavators with shear and power-head attachments, our internal pipeline cutters, our licensed drivers hauling hazardous materials off site, Resolve has the specialized equipment and personnel to develop a tailored solution for your next decommissioning project.

Pipeline Deactivation & Abandonment
Resolve’s personnel have been performing pipeline deactivation and abandonment services since 2008 and have successfully completed over 1000 deactivations and abandonments without incident. Resolve is well equipped to complete pipeline abandonment in accordance with Chapter 11 of the Oil and Gas Activity Act and CSA Standard Z662.
Below grade cutting of pipelines is completed using our internal pipe cutting tools. Our internal pipe cutting tools can cut 2 – 8 inch pipelines. A mechanical plug is engraved with all pertinent information (license, to and from locations, permit holder name, and date of abandonment) and is anchored in the pipeline just above the elbow where the piping goes lateral. Next, the cutting tool is lowered into the pipeline and the cutting is completed in a matter of minutes. The surface piping is then removed from the ground and the hole is filled in. This is an ideal method for most surface pipeline removal as there is little to no ground disturbance. Resolve also provides Omni Marker Balls, an improved method to electronically mark and locate underground facilities. These balls are placed on top of the mechanical plug of cut and capped pipelines.
Alternatively, if excavation of the pipelines to lease edge is required for remedial activities, this can be completed with our excavators with the same plugging procedure as outlined above, taking place at the pipeline at lease edge.
